The Russians routed thy Third Rumanian Mountain Division and occupied several populated points and some important heights. Russian marines routed a Rumanian battalion and captured an important bill. The Germans and Rumanians however are fighting tenaciously and constantly counterattacking. Olio Russian unit has beaten off 14 attacks in four days. A suggestion that the Russians have begun a second claw uf a pincer against the Germans in Stalingrad is contained in a news agency despatch irom Moscow which says the Russians have taken initiative south of Stalingrad where Russian infantry under a curtain of fire from the Volga flotillas guns ousted the Germans and Rumanians from three settlements.
