ALFREDTON CARD EVENING
VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION OVER £2l RAISED. The card evening held last Saturday in the Alfredton Hall was very well attended. The winners of the cards were:— Ladies: Mrs J. Hartley; Gents: Mr G. Godinagli and Mr H. Burch equal. Competition for bag of sugar donated by Mr Taverner was finalised and won by Master R. Seymour and iealised £2 os 3d. Box of groceries won by Mr C. Algie realised £l 10s 6d. Box of chocolates donated by Mr G. Yarrall was won by Mr Doon ey and realised £1 4s. A mystery parcel donated by Mr H. Kebbell was won by Mr lan McDonald and realised £1 os. The following goods were sold by Mr R. Kebbell: Fore quarter of mutton donated by Mr T. Smith, realised 18s 6d; potatoes donated by Mr A. Weston, realised 4s 3d ; marrow donated by Mr R. Kebbel, realised 3s; biscuits made by a father for Father’s Day, realised 3s 3d; vegetables grown and donated by Master Charley Leach for patriotic funds, iealised lls. Mr R. Kebbell congratulated Master Charley Leach on his good effort, the proeeeds from his garden having realised £7 6s. A donation of £lO was thankfully received from Messrs F. and H. Percy.
Hostesses were Mesdames G. Yaxrall, W. Rolls and Hall. The total for the evening was £2l 14s.
The pleasant evening closed with tlio singing of the National Anthem.
