MAN VIOLENTLY ASSAULTED. Electric T-aJegrapL—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night, Described by the police a« a “king hitter who gets his blow in first while the other man i s not looking,” Matthew Mac Neill, a. seaman oil the Port Denison, was convicted in the Police Court to-day on a charge of assaulting. Joseph Halligan on March 13. He was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment qml ordered to be placed aboard the- ship at Port Chalmers before she leaves the Dominion at the end of the month. He was also ordered to pay £6 5s 6*l expenses incurred by Halligan, who, the police stated. wa s discharged from hospital only to-day.
