CHEESE PRICES STEADIER. BUTTER SLIGHTLY FIRMER. After some irregularity, the London butter market closed slightly firmer at the end of last week. New Zealand salted butter was quoted at 69s to 70s, a net decline of Is a. cwt. on the week. Some agents’ cables reported a firm clo-sing on an improved demand. LAMB PRICES BETTER IMPROVED DEMAND IN LONDON The lamb market is firm. The demand has improved and prices have advanced, especially for lightweight. Mutton market: AVethers, slightly easier- owing to increasing supplies. Ewes, market steady and unchanged. Beef market: Slightly easier owing to lower prices of Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand porker pigs: Lightweight shade easier owing °to heavier supplies; other weights’' unchanged. New- Zealand baconer pigs: Steady with fair trade.
