THE NEWSPAPER
(Exchange.! Don’t stop my paper, printer, Keep my advt. in yet, You know that times are stringent, And money hard to get. But tug a little har<3er Is what I mean to do, And scrape bawbees together Enough to see us through. I can’t afford to drop it; I know it doesn’t pay To do without an ad, and pap«r, However, others may. I hate to ask my neighbours To give me theirs on loan ; They do not say, but mean it, “Why don’t you have your own 7 I can’t tell what I’m losing, If by some decree of Fate, It should not happen to reach me. Or if my ad. is dropped from date. Then all is in a hubbub, And things go all awry, And Mr Printer, if you’re married, You know the reason why. I cannot do without them, It is iittle use to try, For other people can keep going, And Mr Printer, so must I. The paper keeps me posted With local news and view® And I would feel disloyal If I did not it peruse. Then take it kindly, printer* If pay be somewhat slow, For cash is not so plenty And wants not few you know. The flag I’ll keep on flying, Cost whan it may to me; I’d rather dock my sugar, And dio without my tea. So, Mr Printer, do not stop it, Unless you want a frown, _ For here’s a little to go on with,
