“MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.” , Society balls, musical concerts, horse shows, political conventions, ice skating, public indignation meetings, track meets, boxing and wrestling matches are a few of the many types of events set- in Madison Square Garden, historic Manhattan arena, whose kaleidoscopic- life furnishes the background for Paramount’s “Madison Square Garden,** a. drama, dealing with the events which befall a group of people who meet under its roof, and which conies to the King’s Theatre to-night. Thomas Meiglian returns to the screen for the first time since’ 1931 when lie appeared in “Sky Lino.” In “Madison Square Garden,” he is cast a.s the dignified Garden impresario. Marion Nixon will he re me inhered hy film fans for hen* role opposite Warner Baxter in “Amateur Daddy.” with Charles Farrell in “After Tomorrow,” with James Cagney in “Winner Take All.” ami in “Rel bccca of Sunny brook Farm.*’ As the telegraph operator with whom Tack Oakie Falls in love. Miss Nixon plays a role that will be met with approval everywhere. Jack Dakie who has been featured in a number of film hits, including “Dancers in the Dark,” “Million Dollar Legs” and “Skv Bride.” gives a remarkable performance the easily tempted fighter. Zasu Pitts. one of the screen’s best known comediennes, plays the role of a telegraph operator. William Collier. Sr., another actor who has appeared in a number of outstanding film hits, gives a rich performance as the honest manager who is rewarded hy being made match-maker for the Garden. "William Boyd is cast- as an ifaginative scoundrel who furnishes his pugilistic contender with plaster bandages. Film fans will remember Boyd for his appearances in a number of recent film bits. Lew Cody, who has specialisc*d in movie villainv for many rears, is cast as the black-hearted bootlegger.
