WELL-KNOWN SOLICITOR
DEATH AT DARGAVILLE. Electric Telegraph—Press Association DARGAVILLE, This Day. The death took place last night of Gilbert Nelson Hayes, a wellknown solicitor, of the firm of Hayes, Mitchell and Goulding. Deceased was born at Waimate (Canterbury) and cam© to this district 23 years ago and set up in practice with E. I’. Field. He was the senior counsel of the Dargaville bar, and recognised as a clever jileader. Fie took a keen interest in local affairs. The late AJr Haves was a member of the Kaipara Licensing Committee, and also served for some years on the Dargaville Fire Board. He was an enthusiastic Freemason, and gave freely to all causes of. ."charity. His . outstanding gift was a Post Office clock, erected at a cost of over £IOOO. He is survived by a widow and two young children.
