There were smaller entries all round, compared with the previous week at Addington markets to-day. Eat- cattle were in short supply and, recovered from the slump* sustained a week ago. Fat sheep averaged about the same prices. Dry stole sheep were in better demand hut values were unchanged and ewes and lambs were dull o; sale. Spring larnb-s sold at improved rates. Values were: Good half-bred ewe hoggets, 37s 6d to 435; ordinary wether hoggets 265; weil-woolled halfbred wethers 31s to 33s 6d ; shorn wethers 22s to- 25ts ; 4, 6 and 8-tooth three-quarter-bred ewes to 335, sound-mouth half-bred ewes, to 25s 6d; sound-mouth -crossbred ewes and lambs. 16s t-c- 19s (all counted). Of spring lambs, the entry totalled 125 and under active competition, prices showed improvement. Extra good lambs sold to 43s 3d ; good 36s to 39s 6d; medium 3Ls to- 35s 6d ; small 27s to 3Us.

Extra prime wethers to 50s 4d; prime wethers 43s to 47s 6d ; prime medium weight 37s to 425; medium and unfinished 30s lOd to 35s ; extra prime ewes to. 42s Id; prime 36s- to 40s; medium 28s to 35s ; aged and inferior 24s lOd to 27s J Od: shorn 17s lOd to 34s 10d,; hoggets 30s lOd to 39s lOd. There- was a. considerable fallingoff in the numbers of fat cattle- yarded, the total being 329, against 480 the week before and 457 a fortnight ago-. The quality was mixed but on the whole similar to that of the previous yarding. Outside supplies were represented by consignments -from the West Coast and North Island, The northern cattle had been down for some time and some of them had been offered at previous -sales. The market opened at an advance in prices. Prime steer beef . fetched up to 50s; average 44s 6cl to 48s; medium 39s 6d to 435; plain heavy steers 36s 6d to 41s; prime cow and heifer beef 44s to- 47s 6d; medium 39s 6d to 435. and rough down t,o 30a per lOOlbs. The range of price was: Extra prime steers to £2l 12s 6d; prime £lB IQs to £l9 17s 6d; medium £l6 10s to £18; ordinary £l2 2s 6d to £l6; extra prime heifers to £l7 2is 6d ; prime £l4 to £l6; ordinary £7 7s 6cl to £l3 10s; extra prime cows to £l6 2s 6d ; prime £l3 to £l6 ; medium £9 10s to £l2 10s; aged and inferior £6 12s 6d to £9.
