Last Night. “Owing to complaints having been received about women in cars calling out idiotically in the Mount Roskill district at night, two constables were sent to watch the locality, and they arrested both accused,” said Senior Sergeant Cummings at the Police Court wluii a, married man and a young woman were each charged with committing a grossly indecent act. Mr Cummings added that the accused had come from ; cabaret at midnight on Saturday, and remained in a motor car in Martyne Avenue, Mount Roskill. until 2 a.m. Mr Cummings then described vchat had taken place. Counsel for both accused said that the man would plead guilty, but the woman not guilty. Both were or good character and the offence was characterised as most venial. He asked that the charge against the young woman he dismissed and that her name he suppressed. Mr F. K. Hunt. S.M.. agreed to do this in the case of the woman. The man was fined CIO and his name also was suppressed. “I’m only doing tliis for you to- save identifying the young woman and plastering her name in the future,” Mr Hunt told, the man. POSTAL THEFTS. WELLINGTON. Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, a post; ! clerk, aged 37. wlio-se name was suppressed, was charged with having stolen a letter 1 , ntaining IDs and with having attempted to- steal two- letters containing £3 each. The accused pleaded not guilt v and was committed t-o the Supreme Court for t-ria 1. The Bench (Messrs .1 Staples and D. Keir) granted suppression of the ricouised’s name in tbo meantime Bail was renewed.
