BASKETBALL AND RUGBY SCHOOL MATCHES. Last Saturday morning two teams of Basketball players from Eketahuna District Higli School played against local school teams. In the A grade the •match was very evenly contested until near the end' when the Pahiatua girls gat e « good display of fussing ancl accurate goal-throw ing. The final score was s{tf —lß in favour of Pahiatua D.FI. tschool. The game was controlled by Miss Day and Air M. J. O’Connor. The B teams then tried conclusions. The passing was very promising, but by the inaccurate throwing the players on both sides lost many an opportunity of scoring. The result which was in doubt until the call of time was 10 —8 with Pahiatua aa the victorious team. The umiprie.s in this match were Misses Wilson and D. E. E. J linker.

At the conclusion of tlie&e matches the visiting teams, including footballers. were entertained at morning ten. Mr Shitm.ra.in briefly returned thanks for the hospitality extended, to the Kkotahuna players. The Kkotahuna first fifteen again defeated Pahiatua when they played a return match on Saturday. The teams were evenly matched the score being; at half-time 6 all; at no side 6—12. The defence on both sides was weak due chiefly to faulty tackling but both teams seemed satisfied that their duty was clone for the time being when they were in their opponent's twenty-five and eased off instead of attacking strongly to score.
