The Wellington Racing Club’s Winker meeting concluded at Trenthem yesterday in fine bright weather before a very large attendance. The course was sticky after heavy frost. Beau Cavalier won the Winter Hurdles from end to end. The tote put through £68,978 as against £66,395 lOs for the third day last year. VICTORIAN GRAND STEEPLECHASE.

MELBOURNE, July 15. The Victorian Grand National Steeplechase, three miles, resulted: Namera, 10.1 (Warner) 1 Nyangay, 11.7 (M'lnnes) ... 2 Oral Treaty, 9.3 (Tait) 3

There were twelve starters. Coming to the last fence Nyangay led the field from Oral Treaty, Namera being two lengths behind. Turning into the straight Namera passed Oral Treaty and was on equal terms with Nyangay. Here the latter appeared to slip and collide with Namera. The latter, however, lost little ground. Inside the distance it was a wonderful fight, the two horses racing head and head until within thirty yards from the finishing post. Nyangay then weakened and Namera drew away to win by half a neck, with Oral Treaty four lengths away third. Time. 6.114. a course record. Doutta Galla Hurdles, 2 miles.
