The Duke and Duchess were welcomed all along the route of their journey by huge crowds of cheering people. Many inspections of returned soldiers, boy scouts, and girl guides' were held and the usual addresses of welcome and bouquets were presented at each stopping place. A night was spent at Toowoomba, where the Duke paid an informal visit to the soldiers’ chib.
