BUSH RUGBY UNION

MEETING OF DELEGATES BOUNDARY SCHEME REJECTED. Every club in the district was represented at the annual meeting of the Bush Rugby Union, held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Xh© president, ]\lr R. J. Smith, occupied the chair. The annual report was read, and the balance-sheet, showing the highly satisfactory credit of £250 Is Bd. Delegates applauded the disclosure of these figures and the report and balance-sheet were adopted practically without discussion. Air Scott Raleigh said it looked as if the Bush had the right men in charge. It was a gratifying change to see the finances in such a healthy state. . A letter was received from the Hamua Football Club advising that at its annual meeting the following resolution was carried: “That this meeting of footballers appreciate the efforts of the president, Air R. J. Smith, and his committee on behalf of Rugby football in the Bush and in bringing forward such a good balance-sheet.. They also hope that Air Smith will again accept office for a further term to carry on the good work.” Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron. Mr H. Cowan; president, Air R. J- Smith; secretary. Air S K. Siddells; auditor, Mr P. R. Boagey ; delegate to New Zealand Union, Mr R. .T. Smith; sole selector senior, Air S. K. Siddells; junior. Messrs Scott Raleigh, R. A. Williams, and T. Goodin; third grade, Air O. Stone; management committee: A hallo! resulted in the return of the following seven out of eleven nominations, Messrs E. L. Harvey, A. Bentley, T. O’Dea. A. Henry, G. Gregory, C. Connell, and A. McNeilage The scrutineers were Messrs F. G. Thompson and AV. Herbert. DIVIDING THE DISTRICT.

The proposed boundary scheme came up for discussion but Air A. Bentley’s (Pahiatua) motion that the district he divided into four playing areas was lost by a small margin. On the motion of Mr AV. Ryan (Hamua) it was decided that an extraordinary general meeting of delegates be held at the end of this playing season to go fully into the matter then place the position before the individual Iclubs before it is brought up at the next annual meeting of the union. AIETHOD OF INSURANCE.

Afr Bliss brought forward the Nirealia Club’s notice of motion that the motion passed at the last annual meeting of the union abolishing its insurance scheme be rescinded and the union insure players under the old scheme again. This was seconded by Air C. Parsons (Eketahuna) but after discussion the motion was lost by twelve votes to seven. A COAIPETENT OFFICER. Air F. G. Thompson spoke in glowing terms of the work of the secretary. Air S. K. Siddells, and moved that he be voted a bonus of £25. This was seconded by Air Bert Evans and carried unanimously. Tn returning his thanks Afr Siddells said he only hoped the Bush would collect the Behbington Shield this season and then the finances of the Union would be assured again for another few years. SATURDAY JUNIOR PLAY. After considerable discussion it was decided that all junior matches he played on Saturdays. All third grade matches will be played on AVednesdays as in the past. TEAAIS NOMINATED. Newman, Ror.goinai, and Ngaturi were elected junior clubs to the union. The following clubs have entered a team in the various grades: Senior: Pahiatua. Arangatainoka. Konini, Hamua, Eketahuna, and Nireaha.

Junior: Pahiatua. Alangatainoka, Eketahuna, Ngaturi, Alfredton, Rongomai. and Newman. Third grade: Pahiatua, Alangatainoka, Konini, Eketahuna, and Nireaha.

The competitions will commence on the first Saturday in Alay. The union passed a motion of condolence to the Messrs Galvin brothers, of Hamua. in their recent bereavement, delegates standing in silence. The auditor was voted an honorarium of two guineas.

Votes of thanks were accorded Mr and Airs J. Byrne for what they had done towards the footballers ol the Bush, the press for its liberal publicity, and the chairman for his conduct of the meeting.
