KING'S PICTURES

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME. Phil Goldstone’s current offering starring Rex (Snowy) Baker, at the King’s Theatre on Friday (matinee and evening), presents a refreshingly different romance of Oriental life. It is the first picture ever laid in Afghanistan, a country still semibarbarous, where thrills and adventure are the stuff of everyday living, where the inhabitants are considered the bravest most treacherous, and most cruel race on earth. In addition, Paramount Stereoscopiks, the newest sensation in motion pictures, will be shown. They are a marvellous development in the art of the moving picture. As you look at the ordinary picture there are only two dimensions apparent on the screen —height and width. Depth, the elusive third dimension has been the enigma ot’ scientists for years. But now, through the efforts of one of America’s leading figures in th© world of science, the problem has been solved. On Saturday night “The Sign of th© Rose’’ will be shown. This discloses the drama of a child of the tenements and a child of the rich and the thrilling manner in which their parents are involved in a desperate struggle. It is the storv of what happened to a man who brought a Christmas tree to the home of wealth. The drama of a cruel accusation and its tragic consequences. There will be •special Xmas music on the organ, with some carols, hv request. On Monday, Rudolph Valentino in “Cobra” will he shown. A picture with Rudolph Valentino as the Great Lover, and Nita Nilda as the girl.
