MEETING IN WELLINGTON

Electric Teleeraph—Press Association Wellington. Last Night.

Mi' Atrnore. ex-member for Nelson, addressed a large meeting iu the Town Hall, the subject being the war and war taxation. At the conclusion of his address the following motion by Air I*. C*. Webb, member for Grey, was carried: —

“That this meeting r♦'quests the National Government to prove its representative name by taking tmirumediate steps to relieve people from the cruel pressure of the excostuve cost of living hy fixing prices and placing war tax a ton on war protiters.” A further motion, moved by Mr H. E Holland j was also carried: “That in view of the fact that the voluntary system has not failed, this meeting condemns the fonseription Bill before the House as one of the worst forms ext Prussian militarism.”
