ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mangatn.noka Library and Athenaeum Society was held at Mangatainoka on Saturday evening. The president Alt G. \V. Chatwin. presided over a moderate attendance. The balance-sheet submitted showed that the reeipts for the pasfc twelve months totalled £3O 12s 3d, including a credit balance of £1 Ids lid from the previous year and £8 19s 8d Got eminent subsidy. The library hall, which is utilised for meetings and social gatherings, brought in a fair sum. The expenditure amounted to £2fi 10s 3d, the principal items being new l*x>ks £9 and custodian’s salary £lO. The statement, which was considered satisfactory, was adopted without comment. Mr A. Barrel! was re-elected a trustee of the Society. Mr A. McPherson, treasurer, anti Mr E. Ashby auditor. The following were elected a committee: Messrs G \V. Chatwin, T I. Rayner, .1. May, 11. A. Williams, H Bayli.ss, V. Redmond B. J. Bengston .1). W. Wilton. J. Styris. 1,. Colons, W. Morrison and C. Walker. At a subsequent meeting of the oorrJ::w, Mr G. W. Chatwin was reelected president. Air V. Redmond secretary, and Air W. J. Skilton eusto dian. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the auditor (.Mr Ashby), the president (Air Chatwin), and the secretary (Air Redmond), for services rendered during the past year. A similar compliment was accorded to all who had assisted the Society. It was decided to hold the monthly meetings on the third Saturday night in each month. Accounts amounting to £3 lfis *><l were passed for payment.*
