CADETS FOR CANADA.
TWENTY TO BE SENT
COMPETITIONS AT TORONTO. CANADA’S GENEROUS OFFER. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, This Day. The Government has decided to send twenty senior cadets to Canada in response to an invitation to compete at the Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto. Tlie competitions consist of drill, physical drill, and shooting matches. The contingent will leave in time to a rive in Toronto on or just before August 25 next. Tlie Canadian authorities undertake to provide all the cost of transport by sea and rail, and also to provide accommodation.
The cadets, to be eligible, must pass medical test and must measure: Height sft Gin to sft 9in. chest relaxed from 31 inches to 32 inches, inflated 34 inches, aged 1G to 18 years. Each cadet chosen must have been an efficient cadet from the age of 14 years, smart at drill and a good shot. Each military district is to supply five senior cadets.
Before leaving for Canada the boys will train in or near Wellington lor a month. During their absence trom home they will be required to devote part of each day to school work. S?p----v ice with the contingent will count as qualifying for service under tie Defence Act.
