RIFLE RANGE ACCIDENT.

A M iiouj? and unfortunate accident happened on Thursday at the Kltham rifle range. Air George Heaven being the victim, reports the Argus. Olio of the bullets t rein the rifle of a volunteer who was shooting found its way through the mound in trout of the targets, penetrated a sheet of corrugated iron, and struck the right, hand of All Heaven, who was mark-' ing. The first finger Mas splintered, and it is hard to say yet whether it ean be saved. The second finger was shot right off. and two other fingers have suffered fl< sh Mounds. Captain Clark has reported the matter to headquarters, and t lie re is sure to be an inquiry made into the matter bv tiie* military authorities. The trendies Mere looked u]>on as particularly safe, and the accident was 11 most peculiar one. Tiie bullet, it would appear, penetrated the mound, .struck a cross beam 01 scantling, then pierced the iron, and was then deflected downwaids. striking Air Heaven with its l ull length, not m ith tho point. •
