Britain’s Navy.
London, F’ebruary 27. Mr Arnold F’orster, Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, in the course of debate on the Navy Estimates, said tho Colonial representatives at the Coronation would be consulted with regard to the proposal that the colonies should make some contribution to the maintenance of tbe navy.
Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said the Government were not approaching the colonies, is beggars, but desired that proportionately to their resources the colonios should share the burden of the Empire. Mr E. Robertson, Liberal member for Dundee, complained that every family in tbe United Kingdom was paying three pounds a year to provide a navy for tbe colonies, which were at least equally rich.
