ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, This Day. A fatal accident occurrt d on Saturday afternoon at the football match between suburban teams of Kingslaml and Mount Albert. During the play a young man named Albert Chatwin came into violent collision with another player. Chatwin immediately ran off tbe field and fell down in an unconscious state. Medical aid was summoned ; but Chatwin died in twenty minutes from tbe effect of tbe shock. While Alfred Reid and T. Hearne were working on the Crown mines tramway at Karangahake, a big fall of earth occurred. Hearne escaped with a few bruises, but Reid had his skull split open, and was rendered unconscious. He is now in a critical condition.
Dannevirke, This Day. A young married man named Wardell, a settler in the Ngapaeruru block, accidentally shot himself yesterday. He was leaning on his gun when the weapon went off. The charge, entering his stomach, killed him instantly.
