STOCK REPORT.
i Messrs Abraham and William* report : ; A full muster of cattle was yarded at , Colyton on 25th September. Although ! ' buyers were rather slow with their bidfling*, a steady demand existed, resulting , in everything practically being sold under j | the hammer. Sheep were short of advor- i , tised number, owing doubtless to the bad weather. Forward store wethers advanced , upon late rates ; other sheep without ; . change »n value. At Palmerston on September 27th, most I of the cat-tlo pens were occupied. Grown j ■ stores and fat cattle advanced in price ; ; weaners and yearlings somewhat easier. | j Only a few milch cow* and springing I heifers were penned, and so far the de- | mand appear* only moderate for this class, j The yarding of sheep was confined chiefly to hoggets, which were generally of a sound : I character. A firm tone existed through- i ! out. In point of number there was a very I ' fair entry. | Colyton.— Fat cow*, £6 5* . light cow , i beef, £4 8h ; milch cow* and heifers, £4 | | 12s 6d to L 6 10s ; store cow* and heifer*, | j 65s to 70s ; 18 month steers, 50s ; 2! do, j ' 735; 2‘ to 3 year old, 76a 6d : mixed weaaer*. 32s f>d ; mixed yearling*, 12 ; ! forward wethers, los 3d ; sound mouthed ewes with 100 per cent of lambs, 12s; older sorts with lambs at foot, B*.
