Footballers' Send-Off.

On Saturday night about thirty football enthusiasts entertained Mr D. Wilson (Captain of the, Pahiatua First Fifteen) and Mr E. Barley (Captain of the Second Fifteen) at a dinner at the Union Hotel. . prior to their departure from the district. The party sat dow n to an excelb nt re past, put on in first-class style by Host / Malcolm, and gave the best proof of their appreciation by doing the fullest justice to the viands. The demolition of the solids xvas followed by a smoke concert. The chair was occupied by Mr Baillic. and the following toasts were honored:— "Our guests,” proposed by the Chairman and responded to by Messrs Wilson and Barley; “Rugby Poahall,” proposed byMr Wilson, responded to by Mr Skinner; “ Kindred Sports," proposed by Mr Me Cardie, and responded to by Measrs liot tomley aud F. Perry; “Bush ltugby Union,” proposed by Mr Wilson, res ponded to by Mr Crichton ; “ Referees and Line Umpires, ’ proposed by Mr Brough ton. responded to by Messrs Baillie and Pickering; “The Ban-ackers,” proposed by Mr Barley-, responded to bv Mesar*. Chambers and Broom The Ladies," proposed by Mr Fashion, responded to byMessrs Skinner and Perh ;“ H ost anil Hostess,” proposed by me Chairman, responded to by Mr Malcolm. An excel lent programme of songs and recitations y was gone through, and an enjoyable f evening xvas spent by all. Regret was ex press**<{ on all hands at the departure of two such energetic members of the Club, who had dene so much throughout tlw season for their Club and for football gene rally throughout the district.
