PUBLIC SERVICE ECONOMY.

FIFTEEN WOMEN RECEIVE NOTICE. AUCKLAND, August 7. As a further Government economy measure eight women typists and two women telephone exchange operators at the Auckland railway station offices today received notice of their dismissal as from August 22. Two typists at the railway offices at Otahuhu also received notice. As three women clerks had recently been notified of their dismissal the total to be discharged is 15, and no women typists will now remain on the staff in Auckland. Their places will be filled by cadets and junior clerks at present engaged in other directions, so that no new appointments,, will be made.
