An ingenious machine, which is claimed to be of great assistance in the training of aviation pilots, has been ordered from the United States by the Vacuum Oil Company, Pty.. Ltd., and will shortly be exhibited throughout New Zealand. The machine, which is used at one of the principal flying schools in the United States, consists of a model aeroplane in a wind tunnel, the movements of the ma- ; chine being controlled by the pupil. The aeroplane is free to rise or fall, and nan bank, climb, or dive. The pupil operates controls corresponding to those of a proper aeroplane, and he can watch the movements of the model.
