ART UNION PERMIT.
RETURNED SOLDIERS’ APPLICATION.
REBUILDING OF CLUB ROOMS.
WELLINGTON, October 9,
A large deputation representing the Wellington R.S.A. approached the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr P. A. de la Perrelle) to-day with a view to securing the right to hold an art union to carry out a rebuilding scheme. Under the terms of its lease, it was stated, the association has to rebuild on the present site by 1935, and the contention was put forward that an art union was the only means of raising the money open to the association. The Minister expressed sympathy towards the application. At present, he stated, there were four permits pending. It was not possible for him to grant permits; that was a matter for Cabinet, and he would place the application before his colleagues.
