REAL ESTATE INSTITUTE.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE. NAPIER, October 8. Delegates from all parts of New Zealand are attending the fifteenth annual conference of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, which was opened in Napier this morning under the presidency of Mr T. H. Gill, of Hastings. A welcome was extended to members of the institute by the Mayor of Napier (Mr J. Vigor Brown).

The-chairman’s address and the presentation of various reports occupied a considerable time. The tariff scales were fully discussed. The adoption of a uniform tariff for the whole of the Dominion was urged by several speakers, views of the delegates also being expressed on the proposal to raise the rate of commission to 5 per cent, on the first £5OO of a transaction. It was eventually left to the Executive Committee to consider the subject.

Remits will be dealt with to-morrow.

. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. NAPIER, October 9. The following officers were elected this morning:—President, Air Douglas M. Spedding; vice-presidents, Messrs P. J. Crump (Auckland) and C. E. Jones (Canterbury) ; executive—Messrs S. E. Bennett (Auckland), H. E. Greig (Wellington), P. B. Foote (South Canterbury), L. D. Richie (Otago), E. F. Clifton (Wanganui), E. W. Win (Nelson), H. W. lieslop (Canterbury), G. Crawshaw (Poverty Bay), C. W. Morey (Taranaki), A. G. Pallott (Hawke’s Bay), G. S. Boyes (Waikato), J. G. Carswell (Southland); treasurer, W. J. A. Thomson (Auckland).
