Fat Cattle.—There was an average yarding of about 195 head, consisting largely of prime bullocks, with a small proportion of cows and heifers. Prices opened firm at last week’s rates, and improved during the progress of the sale, resulting in an appreciation of 20s to 30s per head on the average compared with last sale. Store Cattle.—There was a yarding approaching 300 head, consisting mostly of young cattle and aged cows, with an odd pen or two of two and a-half to three-year-old steers. There was good competition for the latter class, prices ranging from £8 10s to £lO 10s, whilst other sorts showed little alteration on late rates. Fat Sheep.—The entry in this section numbered 2168, being comprised principally of light and medium wethers, with an odd truck or two of prime sheep The proportion of ewes was small. Brices

for prime butchers’ sheep could be quoted as being from par to Is in advance, but medium and light classes of wethers in particular declined by Is to Is 6d per head in comparison with last sale’s rates.
