SARRON BEATS LECKIE. WELLINGTON, February 4. Pete Sarron, the Alabama Syrian, gave Johnny Leckie, the New Zealander, a boxing lesson before a crowded house at the town Hall to-night. There was only one man in it. the American revealing ringcraft of the highest order. He showed beautiful footwork and speed, and practically did as he liked. Sarron rushed his man to the ropes in the second round, and drove a terrific right to the nose, from which the New Zealander never recovered. It is not too much to say that the New Zealand public do not know’ how really clever a boxer Sarron is. as there is no one in this country capable of fully extending him. He proved himself the soul of chivalry last evening by refraining from unduly punishing a palpably beaten opponent.

The Wanganui Boxing Association was advised this evening by Johnny Leckie that, under the doctor's orders, he would not be able to fight for three months, therefore the bout with Billy Grime for next Thursday night has been cancelled.
