CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. WELLINGTON, February 4. A claim for £2664 damages arising out of a motor accident in which Arthur Lyons, aged eight, was knocked down on the Main North road near Tawa Flat, was heard before the Chief Justice against the Highways Transport Company, by whom the driver was employed. The injuries were stated to include the arm, the leg. shock, and’ the brain. The claim is for £2500 general and £164 special damages. Hie jury, after four hours’ retirement, returned with a majority verdict that the defendant's driver was negligent, and that the boy was not negligent, and awarded £1154 damages. An application for judgment for this sum was reserved for further consideration. An application by the defendant to move for a non-suit for judgment for the defendant, and for a new trial was made. The Chief Justice fixed next Wednesday as the time for the hearing of these
