TOURIST TRAFFIC.

BETER THAN LAST YEAR. WELLINGTON, February 8. While he had no definite figures in regard to the tourist traffic from abroad, said the Minister in Charge of Tourist Resorts (Mr P. A. de la Perrelle) to a reporter, there was sufficient information to show that it was considerably better than at this time last year. This lie attributed to the increased activities of the Tourist Department in its endeavour to make the attractions of the Dominion more widely realised in other parts of the world. More New Zealanders appeared to be travelling in the thermal district than was usually the case. He had received advice that Australians who had made recent visits by the Melbourne steamer to the fiords were very enthusiastic about the scenery of Milford and other resorts.
