RANGIORA DRAINAGE.

A NOVEL PROCEDURE. RANGIORA, February 3. The Borough Council has a cepted the tenders of Allan Moore, Christchurch, of £16,190 8s lid for the main sewers, and of £2656 for the treatment works for the Rangiora drainage scheme. The estimates of the engineer (Mr W. Stevens, who recently put in the Hamilton scheme) were £18,409 14s and £3763 12s 6d. An Auckland tender was discarded, as it was below the engineer’: statement of net cost. The engineer is putting the sewers through the backs of sections instead of in the streets —the first instance of this being dene in the South Island.
