Between 40 and 50 applications werfl received from Canterbury fruitgrower# for loans from the Government in respect of loss of fruit owing to the severd frosts towards the end of last year. Thd Government orchard instructor (Mr B< G. Goodwin) has been asked to investigate each application and to forward a reporfi to the Wellington authorities, who will then decide as to granting the applica* tions.
