FORBURY PARK.

MEETING OF TROTTING EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held on Thursday night, and was attended by Messrs B. S. Irwin (president, in the chair), James Mitchell, G.-J. Barton, H. Halliday, W. J. L. Goughian, R. Telfer, John Mitchell, J. Richardson, and J. Goldsmid. The club’s handicapper (Mr T. Fogg) wrote explaining his reason for the handi capping of Danny Boy, as compared with Rolex at the November meeting. Mr Fogg stated that prior to the Forbury Park Club’s spring meeting Danny Boy had started in three races at Greymouth under the new system—two races of 84 furlongs, and one of 14} furlongs (last start, unplaced). Rolex had not started under the new system. To find comparisons of Rolex and Danny Boy it was necessary to refer to the last two years performances (old system). These comparisons would show that Rolex had ah advantage over Danny Boy, as shown by the gaits throughout 'be different dis tances. Danny Boy's best gait over one and a-half miles was 2min 28sec for a mile. Rolex’s best gait over two miles was 2min 23 l-10sec. They would notice that Rolex had done his two-mile gait better than Danny Boy’s one and a-half mile gait. It was unnecessary for him to make any further comment. Mr Fogg said that his opinion had since been con firmed by Rolex doing one and a-half miles in 3min 22 3-ssec from a 3.33 mark at Canterbury Park on January 1. This worked out at a 2.15 1-15 mile gait, or if handicapped from one and a-half miles I to one mile, would be 2.13 for a mile. In regard to Author Franz the best this horse had done was two thirds. His last start at Ashburton was on a 3min mark in a one and a-quarter-mile race of a 3.2 class. In regard to Sir Guy, under the new system, this horse had automatically been placed on the front in the 3min class, one mile and a-quarter.—lt was decided to inform Mr E. C. M'Der mott, who had complained about the handicapping of Rolex, that the club considered Mr Fogg's explanation satisfac tory. A letter was received from the Railway Department detailing the special train arrangements being made to meet the convenience of country visitors to the club’s summer meeting.—Noted. It was decided to recommend the Trot ting Association to approve of the following applications:—John Simpson. jun., for an amateur rider's license: David M. Kerr for a professional license to ride and drive. The secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association wrote stating that at the last meeting of the board the action of the club in finding J. S. Miller £5 on the second day of its spring meeting was endorsed, and that upon the recommendation of the club the fine had been remitted. It had also been decided to inquire whether J. Deyell's nomination of his horse, Nelson’s Prince, was in order, and. if not, that l:e should be dealt with by th>> club in regard to the notification of a joint interest in the horse (under rule 204). —It was considered that the onus of notifying the joint interest was on Miller, and it was decided to notify the association to that effect. The following were appointed a Judicial Committee for the summer meeting: —Messrs Irwin, Neill, Richardson, Gold- ■ smid, and Telfer. It was decided to start the first race i each day of the summer meeting at 12.30, 1 and the last race at 5.30.
