POWER BOARD MEETING.

ALEXANDRA, November 26. The monthly meeting of the Central Otago Electric Power Board was held in the Council Chambers, Clyde, on Monday, November 19. Those present were: Messrs W. Black (chairman). W. Bringans, Charles Weaver, W. Al. Lopdell. S. A. Stevens, George Wishart, C. C. Sanders and John M’Knight. A welcome was extended to Mr S. T. Spain, who had just returned from a trip abroad, and to Mr John M'Knight, of Ophir, who had recently been appointed to fill a vacancy on the board. The engineer-manager’s report stated that all lines were in good order, only two interruptions having occurred during the past monthly period. Two pumping plants had been installed and set in operation during the past month, one at Air Perriam’s, Lowburn, the other at Mr APDonnell’s, Galloway. Air Perriam’s plant was opened up officially and a demonstration was given of pumping water to a height of 55 feet. Alatakanui Extension.—The preliminary steps in connection with the poll had been completed. In the event of the poll being carried the engineer was instructed to draw up specifications and call for tenders for the supply of material and also for house wiring. Revised Scale of Charges.—Further details of the scale previously considered were submitted for the board’s approval. It was decided to adopt the scale brought forward, and to bring same into operation as from February 1, 1929. General.—An applicatioi was received from a settler on Clyde Flat for power for milking purposes and lighting.— Granted, subject to the usual guarantee. A letter was received from the superintendent of the National Provident Fund outlining a superannuation scheme for the employees of local bodies. —It was decided to obtain a report on the scheme for the next meeting, when the matter would be considered. Accounts amounting to £2299 19s 6d were presented and passed for payment.
