PATRIOTIC FUNDS.

. A GENEROUS DISBURSEMENT. WELLINGTON, September 21. The Executive Standing Committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association recently considered the criticism of some members of Parliament that the distribution of funds by patriotic societies had not been as liberal as it .should have been. The Standing Committee was unanimously of the opinion that the criticism was not justified. It was satisfied that the funds at all times had beefi generously disbursed within the limits of the trusts. A further £5OOO had been made available by the National War Funds Council to, provide relief for out-of-work soldiers, a contingency possibly not contemplated by the original donors. An additional £5OOO had been made available for that purpose this winter, which was a generous allowance.
