Remarkable pictures painted by working men who have had little or no artistic training were exhibited recently at the Bethnal Green Museum. Oil paintings and designs for scenery and costumes proved that some of these men have remarkable ability. Mr B. R. Swinnerton, who exhibited- portraits and still-life studies in oils and landscapes in water colour, cycled 50 miles to do his oil painting. Many of the exhibitors are wood carvers, skin curers, and caretakers, while others sell cloth on Sunday mornings and dress horsehair.
