Three Garratt engines of a hi<ffi tractive effort with a limited axle-load have Ijeen ordered by the Railways Department for trial oh the middle section of the Auck-land-Wellington Alain Trunk line (says the Auckland Star). This class of engine has proved satisfactory in South Africa, and if results here are as good as there it is' proposed to extend their use. The three engines are being built by; Messrs • Beyer, Peacock, Gorton. England. and will-be delivered before Alarch. 1929.
