The finding in a New Plymouth garden of an imitation coin of the reign of George 111 was noted recently (reports an exchange). A local lady is in possession of one identically the same which she picked up in the Square some months ago. There is a coin similar in some respects owned by a local gentleman who, attending a sale some time ago, purchased a miscellany of goods and later discovered the blackened object. Polishing made it a dull brass colour and of seemingly different metallic combination from those found in New Plymouth and Palmerston North. The date is 1768, and the inscription: “In memory of the good old Days.” It has been suggested that the coins were used for counters at cards. —For the' past three years voluntary workers have been busy redecorating the interior of Christ Church, StreathTam Hill, London, the work being done in glowing colours and original designs.
