DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Friday Afternoon. A small volume of business has been recorded on the Stock Exchange during the past week. Banking shares as a whole have met with fair demand, but sales have been few. Australasias have been dealt in at £l5 Is, but inquiry has remained steady at £l5. For E.S. and A. Banks buyers have been prepared to give £8 15s, but the demand has eased again to £8 13s 6d. A transaction has been reported at £8 12s 6d. There has been a steady improvement in the demand for Bank of New South Wales shares, buyers having at one stage offered £5l Since then the demand has ■been slightly easier, and buyers have offered £5O 15s. Business has been done at £5l ss. National Banks have been asked for / at £7 4s, but the inquiry has since eased, and buyers’ latest offer has been £7 3s 6d. A considerable improvement has been recorded in the demand for New Zealand Breweries, buyers’ latest offer having been 535. In reply, sellers have asked 545. A parcel has changed hands at 535. Business has also been done in the debenture issue at 24s 3d. For New Zealand Insurances buyers have offered 44s 6d, but sellers have not shown any interest. The demand for preferred Huddart, Parkers has eased to 20s 6d, no response being received from sellers. Kaitangatas have been on offer at 4s discount, but buyers have not come forward. / , . There has been little or no change in Loan and Agency shares. National Mortgages have been, the subject of business at 82s 6d, but the closing quotations have remained steady at recent values. Paid-up. New Zealand Refrigeratings have changed hands at 19s, no change being recorded in the closing quotations. Southland Frozen Meats have been in demand at 365, but sellers have been silent. A slightly improved inquiry has been received for British Tobaccos, buyers offering 43s 9d. A sale at 445, cum divident, has been reported. Inquiry for Crystal Ices has improved a trifle, buyers having offered 23s 6d. without response by sellers. Buyers have been prepared to give 34s for Milburn Lime and Cements, but sellers have not come forward. Business has been done in New Zealand Sugar of Milks at 2'ss 6d. Buyers closing quotation has been 235, but sellers have refused to accept less than 265. Mount‘Lyells have been in better demand at 355. sellers asking 365. A transaction has been recorded at 35s 6d. For Big Beaches buyers nave been prepared to give 6s 3d, but sellers lowest requirement has been 9s 3d. Kildares have been asked for at 3s, sellers response being 4s. There has been a weak inquiry for " Government War Bonds, and few sellers have come forward. Saturday Noon. No business was reported on the Stock Exchange this morning. E.S. and A. Banks continued to improve in demand, buyers offering £8 15s 6d. Sellers, however, were not interested. There was a sharp rise in National Banks, for which buyers were prepared to give £7 7s. Sellers would not accept less than £7 10s 6d. For New Zealand Breweries shares buyers offered 545, sellers asking 6d in advance of that figure. Queensland Insurances also met with a stronger inquiry, buyers offering 65s without response by sellers. For New Zealand Sugar of Milks buyers offered 255, but sellers did not quote below 28s.
