Taurekareka won the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, the Champion Stakes, the Great Northern and New Zealand Derbies in record time, still holding the record of 3min 29sec for the race. Taraire, also by Four Chimes, won the great Australasian championship, run at Perth, Western Australia, beating the famous Great Bingen.
