MOTOR CYCLE AND CYCLE COLLIDE. FEILDING, September 11. Late last night a motor cycle ridden by Gordon Thurston and Edward Wilson collid I with Miss Ivy Wilson, who was riding a cycle, near the Kiwitea bridge. Miss Wilson had a collarbone broken, and Thurston received head injuries. Both were removed to hospital. TWO MOTORISTS INJURED. ' _ WELLINGTON, September 11. Two motor lorries collided in Petone to-night. Cyril Eyles, of No. 22 Calmburn street, had his shoulder dislocated, and received injuries to his groin, and Robert Johnstone, of 2 Ventor street, received a punctured wound on the forehead, concussion, and shock. Both were' removed to hospital. WATERSIDE WORKERS’ DEATH. WELLINGTON, September 11. James Cowie, a waterside worker, aged 63, who resided at St. Mary street, was run over by a taxi cab in Courtenay place to-night, and died in hospital from internal injuries. The deceased was a widower. BODY FOUND IN CREEK. NAPIER, September 12. The body of a man named David Mitchell Dunn, a Hastings resident, aged about 49, and employed in the Stock Department of De Pelichet, M'Leod, and Co., was found in the Karamu CreeK, in Hastings, about mid-day to-day by two men who were cutting willows in the locality. The deceased, who leaves a widow and two sons, had been missing from his home since July 30, and the body had evidently been in the creek since that time. An inquest will be held this afternoon. BELIEVED TO BE DROWNED. AUCKLAND, September 12. Fears are entertained for the safety of Arthur James Stonehold, aged 60, a single man, who has been missing from a boarding house at Karekare since Sunday morning. _ He left before noon, stating his intention of walking along the beach. Tracks in the sand indicate that he carried out his intentions, but neither the police nor the search parties have found any further trace of him. It is supposed that Stonehold has been drowned. FOUND DEAD ALONGSIDE GAS HEATER. AUCKLAND, September 12. The circumstances of the death of Percival Hunt, aged 42, a widower, who was found dead alongside a gas heater at his residence in Park road on Tuesday, were investigated at the inquest. Mrs Laura Florence Brooks, sister of the deceased, said she last saw him alive when she went to work on Tuesday morning. On returning in the evening she found her brother dead alongside the gas heater. It appeared perfectly clear that he had dozed off in his.chair by the heater, and that the flame had been extinguished by the breeze through the window. He had evidently been asphyxiated. The inquest was adjourned. MAORI DIES IN HOSPITAL. ROTORUA, Sentember 13. The death occurred in the Hospital of Harry Piripi at one time a noted footballer and athlete, employed by the Public Works Department, as the result of the overturning of a lorry on the Tengae road on Monday last. DEATH FROM INJURIES. PALMERSTON N„ September 13. Claude Mitchell, aged 40, who was severely injured when his car collided with a goods train near Hunterville the other day. and who was brought to Palmerston North to undergo an operation, 'ailed to recover, dying last night. VICTIM OF LAUNCH TRAGEDY. WELLINGTON. September 13. In connection with the finding of the body of Alexander Thomas Brown, who was drowned at Pliinmerton on August 23 through a launch capsizing in a rough sea, the coroner to-day at the inquest found that the deceased was drowned in through the launch capsizing. The body, when found, was in an advanced state of decomposition. The deceased was a married man with four children. DEATH FROM POISONING. WELLINGTON, September 13. A man who was found on a seat at Lambton Station on Tuesday afternoon with a bottle of poison beside him, and who died in hospital shortly after his admission, has been identified as William Stewart. He was a single man and lived at 11 College street. MOTOR CYCLIST’S DEATH. CHRISTCHURCH, September 13. At the inquest held to-day into the death of John William M‘Kay, who was killed outright last night when th e motor cycle he was riding collided with a tramcar on Page’s road, a relative stated that the deceased was a billiard saloon keeper. He was normal in health and his sight and hearing were good. s The coroner found a verdict that no blame was attachable to the motorman. SERIOUS MOTOR SMASH. MASTERTON, September 16. A fatal accident occurred about 10.15 on Saturday night on the Masterton-Car-terton road. A five-seater car, driven by Ray Hausmann crashed into the wing >f a small concrete bridge. The impact mus' have been terrific, as the car was completely wrecked, being crumpled u— like a ccncertina. One of the occupants a mar. named C. R. Gurr (Christian names not known), a traveller for the International

University Society of Auckland, aged about 24, was killed. Gurr is believed o be a single man, but his next-of-kin i, present unknov’n. Robert Corry, aged 24 a passenger in the car, was admitted to hospital with leg injuries. The driver re coived slight concussion, and the other occupants escaped with slight injuries. Earlier in the evening, about 6.15, a r ian named Robert Greeks, of Mastertou. aged 60, was knocked down in the same vicinity by a motor truck. He was admitted to hospital with head injuries.

MISSING MAN’S BODY FOUND. CHRISTCHURCH, September 14. The body of a man was found in the estuary near Sumner this afternoon, and it was subsequently identified as that of John Rutherford Dougall, who had disappeared from Riecarton on August 26. In evidence at the inquest to-day it was stated that Dougall, at the time of his disappearance, had no financial troubles, but had been in indifferent health. The inquest was adjourned.

SERIOUS GUNSHOT WOUND. .. , GORE, September 13. Alexander Coutts. aged 27, was found shot last night at Gore, with a gun alongside him. He now lies in a serious condition in hospital. Coutts lost his wife 18 months ago in tragic circumstances in a fire at Waimate. FOUND DEAD IN BED. CHRISTCHURCH, September 14. Edward Tattnell, aged 45, a married man, was found dead in bed at 123 Madrak street to-day, with a bottle of poison near by. . FALL FROM A TRAIN. INVERCARGILL, September 14. A man named Edwards was killed at Greenhills this morning as the result. of a fall from the platform of a train. He complained to the guard of feeling ill, and later, through the derailment of a carriage, he was found to be missing. A search revealed his body, terribly mangled, some distance down the line, where the carriage had left the rails. LORRY RUNS OVER BANK. WESTPORT, September 15. A motor fatality occurred at Karamea to-day, when Alfred Harris, married aged about 48, was killed through a tim-ber-laden lorry which he was driving stalling on a hill and running back over a bank. Harris was crushed to death by the timber. This is the fourth motoring tatahty this week. CAR PLUNGES DOWN BANK. WESTPORT, September 15. A fatal accident occurred on Oparara road, Karamea at 2.30 yesterday afternoon, a s car driven by Charles Penrose plunging down a bank into Black’s CreekGeorge Smith, hotelkeeper, of Westport, was drowned, and Penrose suffered injuries to his head. MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. Suffering from a fractured leg received when the motor cycle he was riding collided with a motor car on the Anderson’s Bay road, J. E. North, 22 years of age, residing at 53 Driver street, was admitted to the hospital at 5.30 p.m. yesterday.
