STORE MANAGER MISSING.
INDICATION-OF SUICIDE. CAR AND COAT FOUND AT BALCLUTHA. BALCLUTHA, August 31. A sensation was caused locally when some boys discovered a man’s overcoat, coat, and hat lying near the middle of the traffic bridge at an early hour this morning, and an abandoned motor car standing a few chains away, on the north side of the bridge. The police were notified and investigation revealed that the car. a two-seater Chevrolet, belonged to Mr R G. Capell, who has been manager of the Milton Industrial Co-operative Society’s Store for the past six months. No one appears to have seen the car in Balclutha. and Mr Capell has not been seen since he left his boarding house at Milton about 8 30 on Thursday night. It is understood that Mr Capell was dismissed . from his employment recently. A search of his room yesterday morning revealed the following letter, addressed to the proprietor of the boarding house:—“After our chat this morning you will understand my feelings. I cannot stand another niglit of suspense. I cannot prove my innocence. I am ending it all. May God forgive me.” As far as can be ascertained, Mr Capell. who is a single, man. has no relatives in New Zealand,
