The type of theft commonly known as ‘shop lifting” is generally confined to the cities, but during the past few weeks several persons who indulge in this undesirable practice have made their appearance in Greymouth, and turned their unwelcome attentions on local tradesmen (remarks, the Grey River Argus). In one case a mercer had several expensive shirts stolen, and in another instance an overcoat disappeared. A certain amount of pilfering has also been reported hy several grocers.
