DANNEVIRKE LADIES’ TOURNAMENT. DANNEVIRKE, August 22. The Dannevirke ladies’ golf tournament was postponed yesterday on account of the bad weather and was opened to-day in excellent conditions. Mrs Collinson (Palmerston North) headed the qualifying round for the championship with a score of 86. She won her match in the first round, 1 up, after a close game with Mrs Holden (Dannevirke). In the Tahoraite Handicap semi-finals Miss Drummond (Dannevirke) will play Miss Ormond (Napier), and Mrs Spiers (Napier) will meet Miss Vincent (Featherston). DANNEVIRKE, August 23. The tournament concluded to-day. Mrs Collinson (Palmerston North) won the Southern Hawke’s Bay Championship for the second time in succession, defeating Miss Gaisford (Marton) in the final by 2 up after a brilliant game. Mrs Spiers (Napier) won the Tahaoraite Handicap, defeating Miss Drummond (Dannevirke) in the final after a closely-fought match had been carried to the twenty-eighth hole. WEST COAST TOURNAMENT. GREYMOUTH, August 22. The West Coast golf tournament opened to-day. The weather was unfavourable. In the Men’s Championship the eight to qualify were Park (Westport) and Smith (Greymouth), each 154; Sime (Westport), 155; M'Carthy (Greymouth), 159; Lints (Westport), 167; Lovell (Westport), 168; Wild, 171; Shaddick, 173. The following ladies qualified for the West Coast Championship:— Mrs Slee (Westport) 85, Miss Moore (Hokitika) 93. Miss Tennent (Grey) 94, Mrs Mullan (Westport) 95, Mrs Kerr (Timaru) 97, Mrs Cunningham (Grey) 98, Mrs Wilson (Westport) 100, Miss Leggo (Reefton) 102. Greymouth retained the Dalgleish Shield. HUTT CLUB’S TOURNAMENT. WELLINGTON, August 26. Play in the Hutt Golf Club’s tournament was concluded during the week-end. The club’s open championship was won by the Hutt player Rana Wagg, who defeated H. A. Black, of Miramar 3 and 2. Playing against Wagg’s brother, P. Wagg, in the semi-final Black established an amateur record for the course, going round in 66—nine strokes under bogey. BOYS’ CHAMPIONSHIP AT FORMBY. THE FIRST ROUND.
