EXCHANGE OF COMPLIMENTS
ARGENTINA AND NEW ZEALAND.
WELLINGTON, July 30. The following messages passed last evening between the commander of the Argentine training ship. President Sar miento and the Governor-General:— ’ “ Leaving the shores of New Zealand where we were honoured in receiving not only a cordial welcome, but the most kindly hospitality and friendship, I can assure your Excellency that rnvself and every man on board the Sarmiento will a tribute of respect and friendship to New Zealand, and in particular of your Excellencies, because you not only paid a tribute or respect and friendship to our country, but strengthened with your kindness the ties of sympathy between Neu Zealand and the Argentine Republic. —Geronimo Costa Palma, Commander of the I’residente Sarmiento, Argentine Navy. His Excellency replied as follows:— I thank you sincerely for your kind •message. Nothing could give the people of New Zealand more pleasure than your assurance that you have enjoyed your visit to these shores. We have welcomed the opportunities of trying to express our feelings of respect and friendship for tile Argentine Republic.
