MINING.

THE WEEK’S NEWS.

Operations at the Big Beach Gold Mining Company’s sluicing claim at the •Sugar Loaf suffered interruption some three or four weeks ago through a slip carrying away a portion of the pipe line just across the river. The men have since then been employed in repairing the dhmage and strengthening the anchorage of the bridge that carries the line across to the claim. At the time of the break sluicing was going on steadily, and with satisfactory results. However, it is hoped to resume operations shortly. Some encouraging returns have been Washed up from time to time. As work lias proceeded, these returns, it is understood. will make a tidy sum by the close of the company's financial year next month.
