SIR LEO CHIOZZA MONEY

CHARGE OF INDECENCY. LONDON, May 2. At the Marlborough Court, Sir Leo Chiozza Money and Irene Savage were charged with indecency in Hyde Park. They denied the police allegations, and the hearing was adjourned. MAGISTRATE STOPS CASE. LONDON, May 2. Following Sir Leo Chiozza Money's evidence, the magistrate stopped the case, which he dismissed, awarding £lO ]os costs against the police. Sir Leo Money gave evidence that he had known Miss Savage for 18 montlis. She was of unquestionable reputation, and was engaged to be married. They frequently went to theatres together. On the night mentioned in the charge they had dined in the AVest End. They then walked to the park, and had been sitting in adjoining chairs for 10 minutes when a plain clothes policeman appeared and suddenly made the charge. They were roughly handled en route to the police station. The Magistrate said the explanation of the police why they had failed to obtain available evidence failed to satisfy him. Anyway, he could not help thinking that in such cases the police in charge of stations should send reports to headquarters for the consideration of the commissioner. If that had been done the present ease would not have been brought. LONDON, May 3. The father of Miss Savage told the Daily Express that he had for some time corresponded with Sir Leo Money on the subject of economies, and as a result Sir Leo became a friend of the family. His daughter was also interested in the subject.
