TEACHERS’ INSTITUTE.

ANNUAL MEETING OF DUNEDIN SUB-BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Dunedin sub-branch of the Otago Educational in'stitute was held in the Teachers’ ClubIroom; Moray place, on Friday, April 20. Mi- A. Thomson (president), who occupied the chair, extended a welcome to visiting teachers, and expressed pleasure at the large attendance of members. The annual report, which was read and adopted, _ stated that there had been an extraordinary increase in interest and activity on the part of members of this sub-branch. Tka year had been a record one in that respect, and the success attained had been due largely to the institution of regular monthly - meetings at which addresses covering a wide range of cultural topics had been-delivered by competent authorities. The following •office-bearers were appointed for the ensuingSyear;—President, Mr J. F. Wilson; secretary, Mp {,?■ Milne; committee— Misses ' Sulttvan.' Robertson, Gillespie, Messrs A. Thomson, J. C. Smith,.- A. J. Woods; An election took place for- members to represent the sub-branch . on the Committee of Management of the Otago

Educational Institute, and the following were elected:—Miss Sullivan, Messrs L, Forrester, Palmer, L. F. de Berry, A. Thomson, A. J. Woods, and A. Williamson. A vote of thanks to the retiring president (Mr A. Thomson) and the retiring secretary (Mr J. C. Smith), both of whom bad rendered good service during their terms of office, was carried by acclamation. A long and interesting discussion took place on the remits which will be considered at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Educational Institute, and the sub-branch chose five, which it considered were worthy of special consideration.
