Tile following telegram has been received by Mr Joseph Wallaco, Royal Italian consular agent at Christchurch, from Signor A. Blunno. Royal Italian Consul at Wellington: “ 1 approve your reply to the senseless talk of the Mayor of Christchurch.* Mr Archer has forgotten the duty of his public office and being also a member of the Baptist clergy has shown very little Christian spirit besides.” One of the finest specimens of flying fish that has ever been seen in New Zealand waters was landed on the deck of the Arapawa early the other morning on the run from Auckland to Wanganui, and was handed to Mr J. Hayhow by the captain of the steamer to have it preserved (says the Wanganui Herald). The fish was an unusually largo one with a ver v fine spread of fin.
