BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS. HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL MEETING. Excellent competition was witnessed in the Municipal Tepid Baths on Friday afternoon when the Otago Boys’ High School held its annual swimming sports. Every event was keenly contested, the entries in each case being very good. Perhaps the most outstanding performance of the afternoon was that put up by B. Kerr, who. not content with annexing the Junior Championship against. strong opposition, also won the 100 Yards Op.en Handicap from scratch, and the Backstroke Handicap. Tito records were broken during the meeting, T. Harland lowering the record for the 50 Yards Senior Championship by 2 ssec. and W. L. M’Lean beating his own previous record of 38ft 6in in the long plunge by sft 7in. The officia’s controlling the sports were:—Judges—Messrs Campbell, Raritin, Begg. At last night's meeting of the Auckland Swimming Centre the chairman, Mr J. Enwright, refused to reconsider his decision to resign, but agreed to continue in office till the end of the season. As a result of its success in other sports, the University has formed a swimming club. It will hold a carnival to-night, and will probably affiliate with the. centre. PRESENTATION TO MISS WILSON. GISBORNE. April 24. Miss Norma Wilson, who left to-day to join the Olympic team, was accorded a great send-off. She has been the guest of honour at numerous functions during the past week, including a civic farewell and several entertainments by the Maoris. Lady Carroll presented her with a valuable mat. and another mat was given to her by the tribes of Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay. She also carries a greenstone tiki for good luck. The citizens presented her with a travelling outfit.
